Courtney’s Priorities

Oregonians are tired of handing their hard-earned tax dollars over to the state without seeing results for the problems we face every day. Courtney helped defeat Kotek's $4.3 billion gas tax and will continue to demand accountability for state spending. She will fight to stop new tax hikes and hidden fees and cut regulatory burdens that drive up fuel and energy costs so more of your paycheck stays in your pocket—not state coffers.

Timber, dairy, fishing, and farming industries are top priorities in District 16. They cultivate our land, provide jobs, and revenue from them pays for schools, sheriff patrols, and local infrastructure. Courtney will defend sustainable harvesting on working lands, push for predictable timber levels in state forests so counties can budget, and give natural resource communities a real voice when Salem writes land-use and habitat rules.

Courtney knows firsthand what it’s like to not be able to work because childcare is unavailable or too expensive. Working families must be able to find affordable housing and childcare in order to thrive. Courtney will cut the state-level red tape on housing that makes building slower and more expensive, protect local control over how communities grow, and build on the work she already started in Clatsop County so more childcare providers can open their doors—and keep them open.

Coastal and river communities are living with aging dikes and levees, outdated flood maps, and transportation plans written from legislative offices far away from Highway 30, Highway 6, and Highway 101. Courtney will fight for the district’s share of existing tax dollars and oppose tax schemes that hit commuting workers without fixing the roads they drive, and keep working with the Army Corps, the federal delegation, and local partners to ensure levees are studied, accredited, and upgraded.

Families need safe communities to thrive. Courtney will fully back deputies, police, and sheriffs with support and resources and encourage the utilization of School Resource Officers to keep our kids safe at school.

Courtney will always staunchly defend property rights and our Constitutional Second Amendment right to bear arms.

When out-of-state activists moved to criminalize hunting, fishing, and livestock farming, Courtney stood with other hunters, farmers, and fishermen in opposition.

As a mom and career educator, Courtney believes parents belong at the center of their children’s education. Courtney will resist radical education mandates from Salem, protect parents’ rights in education, and fight for rural schools that are stretched thin on staff, facilities, and transportation. With two school-age daughters herself, Courtney will fight to keep sports safe for our girls.

Courtney is a consistent advocate for Oregon’s most vulnerable children—both born and unborn. She will fight to make Oregon a place where every child is valued and ensure women facing unplanned pregnancies have the support they need, from prenatal care and adoption services to counseling that helps both mothers and children thrive.
